The 15th annual Christmas Past Festival, one of the Northshore's premier holiday events, will take place on Girod Street in Old Mandeville. The event will feature more than 100 artists and craftsmen from across the Greater New Orleans area. This year's festival theme "Christmas Past Classics" will give nod to classic holiday films including The Grinch, Santa Clause, A Christmas Carol, Elf and Polar Express. Admission to the event is free and attendees are encouraged to get in the holiday spirit.
New elements to the event this year include a Children's Discovery Area with arts and crafts and a food court featuring a variety of local vendors. Attendees will be treated to the sounds of Box Office Giants and The Messy Cookers Jazz Trio. There will be train rides, horse and carriage rides, roaming holiday characters and Santa Claus will be there for photos with the kids! Bring your friends. Bring your family. You just can't miss this!
Following the festival from 4-6 on the lakefront is the City of Mandeville's Winter on the Water. Join the crowds for Santa's walking parade that starts at the Pontchartrain Yacht Club and continues to the Gazebo where there will be live music and the traditional lighting of the oaks ceremony that marks the official start of Christmas season.
